Pet Travel Care
We are Nuts about traveling with pets.
Taking your pet on a journey, on holiday or just to the vets should be a pleasant and safe experience for both you and your pet. And in most cases, it is.
However, as pet owners our team appreciates how stressful travelling with your pet can be. But there are plenty of ways to make the experience more pleasant with proper planning and using our products in our Pet Accessories.
Travel with your pet
The first consideration must be a suitable carrier, most pet trainers would recommend the use of a pet carrier in the car, this will keep you and your pet safe and make travel more comfortable. You will find pet carriers under our Carrier and beds section.
Please ensure that the carrier or crate is big enough for your pet, make sure your pet has identification preferably microchipping, which is mandatory for dogs anyway.
If you are carrying your dog in the back of a car without a crate be aware that the dog must be secure in the car to prevent escape in the unfortunate event of an accident. You should also have dog guards installed to prevent your pet from roaming around the car. Also ensure that crates and carriers are secured in the car. You can also use a harness which hooks onto the seat belt to secure your dog.
If your pet has travel anxiety issues, travel sickness or hyperactivity it is best to consult your vet who will recommend a number of therapies, medication and other helpful support.
Of course you must also keep your attention on your driving and a loose pet in the car is not only dangerous but also illegal.
“The law is very clear your pet must be secure while traveling in a car. If an animal that is free to roam around the car has contributed to causing an accident, then your insurance company will be well within their rights to rescind insurance on the car and not pay any claim.”
